Srinagar/Nov, 29 : Two militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit were Thursday morning killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Khrew and in the outskirts of Srinagar, said Police
A police statement, said that a cordon and search operation was launched before dawn jointly by the police and forces following “credible” inputs about the presence of militants in Sharshali area of Khrew.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated, leading to a gunfight,” the statement said.
In the ensuing gunfight, the statement said, two militants were killed. The slain militants have been identified as Adnan Lone and Adil Bhat, the statement reads adding that ‘.both the slain, he said, were affiliated with Hizb ul Mujahideen’.
“Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter,” said the statement.
