Leh: The Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal Wednesday reviewed the progress of Saubhagya scheme being implemented in the district under which free electricity connections to all households in rural and urban areas being provided.
The meeting was attended by almost all the AEE and JEs of PDD and STD Leh representing all the regions of Leh district headed by Exen PDD Vinod Kumar Baloch and Exn. STD TundupSpalzang.
While reviewing the progress of Saubhagya scheme in detail, Dy. Chairman expressed his concern on the poor progress in some blocks. Giving reasons for low progress in some regions, Engineers of PDD informed Dy. Chairman that only four contractors are eligible in Leh district to execute the PDD works and they are severely short of manpower. Dy. Chairman directed engineers to complete all the schemes of PDD in far-flung areas on priority so that un-electrified villages of Leh district could not remain deprived of essential service like electricity.
Dy. Chairman also directed Exen PDD to install 1500 KV Generator Set at Diskit Nubra before the closure of Huder Hydel Project. He also directed engineers to install new Generator Sets at Largyap –Patsathang and Changmar villages of Nubra at the earliest.
The Engineers also apprised Dy. Chairman about the ongoing intensive power usage inspections these days and said that based on the complaints of low voltage, huge number of heavy electric gadgets were seized since 21 November. Besides large number of families including tenants were penalised for illegal connection and added that if any family found violating electricity rules again, FIR will be launched against the defaulters.
