Srinagar: A family from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district Wednesday made a fervent appeal to its militant son to return home for the sake of his elderly parents.
The family alleged that local police pushed their 26 year old son to militancy. Ishfaq Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan of Sozeith Narbal had left home for work purpose to Banihal. “We waited for him for two days and when he didn’t return, we lodged a missing report. We were shocked to see his viral picture holding an assault rifle on social media,” said the father of Ishfaq.
His mother Rafiqa alleged that
Ishfaq and his father were arrested and put in lock up by police for a week in place of her another son Muhammad Omar.
“Police labeled my another son Omar as stone-pelter and in place of him they arrested by husband and son Ishfaq. They were released only after they arrested Omar and booked him under PSA. We were on way to Kot Bhalwal Jail to meet Omar when it dawned upon us that Ishaf has joined militancy,” she said.
The family members assembled here in Press Enclave and appealed him to return to home for sake of his elderly parents.
“We are shocked because Ishfaq never made us believe that he was inclined towards militancy. He assisted his father and spent most of the time at home,” said the family members.
“Our family is shattered. We appeal him, wherever he is, to come back home. Don’t leave us like this”, his mother said as tears rolled down her cheeks.
