3 Day Workshop on Mathematics for Class II ,III concludes at JKBOSE Bemina Srinagar Kashmir

Srinagar: A Three-Day Workshop on “Review and Revision of Curriculum Mathematics Class II & III” organized by JKBOSE concluded on Thursday at JKBOSE Bemina Srinagar campus. The workshop was conducted in the light of the analysis report of JKBOSE Textbooks by NCERT New Delhi. The experts Dr.AaliyaQayoom (Assistant Director Academic JK BOSE), Dr.Arif Jan (Assistant Director Academics JK BOSE), Syed Fayaz (Academic Officer JK BOSE), Nazir Ahamd Mir (Lec. HSS Bomai Sopore, Baramulla), Gulzar Ahamd Dar (Lec. GHSS Magam, Budgam), Muzaffar Ahamd Bhat (Lec. HSS Nuner Ganderbal), Bashir Ahmad Sheikh (Teacher, Zone Beerwah), Aijaz Ahamdyatoo (Teacher, Zone Chadora) participated and deliberated in the workshop and came out with the findings on Mathematics textbooks of class 2nd and 3rd.
While speaking in the concluding session Dr. Farooq Ahmad Peer, Director Academics JKBOSE, said that the development of qualitative content material with its standards at par with National level, remains the priority of this organisation. He stated that the review of State level textbooks through an apex national level institute like NCERT is one of the steps to this direction. While informing about the current review status Director Academics said that out of 37 Textbooks, reviewed by NCERT so far, the report of 31 was discussed threadbare in series of workshops organised by JKBOSE and necessary modifications were incorporated accordingly in the JKBOSE textbooks which are in vogue and the remaining o6 textbooks shall be reviewed and implemented from the academic session 2019-20. He assured that the request shall be made to NCERT for the review of remaining 27 textbooks so as to ensure the standard of each textbook of the state is invariably at par with that of national level from next academic session. Pertinent to mention that NCERT had reviewed around 37 titles sent by the JKBOSE and have analysed the same at the following points:
a. Linkages across the stages /classes
b. Deviation from the Content of NCERT
c. Content of NCERT viz a viz JKBOSE content
d. Approach adopted by BOSE for Contextualization of textbooks
e. Languages adopted
f. Exercises and activities.
The workshop, which was attended by 06 subject experts, was conducted under the supervision of Director Academics Dr. Farooq Ahmad Peer and was coordinated by Dr. Aaliya Qayoom (Assistant Director Academics KD).
It is pertinent to mention that in order to have thread bare discussion regarding the textbooks developed and to discuss analysis report of NCERT on JKBOSE Textbooks, the JKBOSE team headed by Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer Director Academics and Tufail Mattoo Project Director RMSA had a meeting on 19th of March 2018 at NCERT, New Delhi which was chaired by Director NCERT. Academic subject experts of NCERT who had analysed the BOSE textbooks were also present during the meeting.
2. Detailed presentations were made by the NCERT Subject specific experts about the analysis report along with some suggestions for overall improvement.
