Srinagar: The final of Down Town Hockey Championship 2018, took place here Wednesday at the Waris Shah Khan ground inside Kathidarwaza in Srinagar which saw Srinagar Hockey Club being crowned as the champions of the competition after they came from goal down to defeat Badal Club 2-1 in a well fought encounter and it’s pertinent to mention over here that (12) twelve teams from valley participated in said championship.
The joint secretary Hockey J&K JB. Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, was chief guest who presided over the above cited Championship and he distributed the prizes to the winning team. He encouraged the players to be more and more efficient in sports and he further wished for improvement in sports to the players.
At this time local gathering who gathered in this championship, was little disappointed to saw such rough and worst condition of the playground. So that the dignitaries and general public demanded the state government to provide AstroTurf to improve the Hockey game in the state to make the future of Hockey more bright and improved.
On this occasion following were also present including SHO Rainawari Aijaz, Former Hockey Player Yaqoob, Technical Director S. Gurdeep Singh, Sheikh Mohd Amin, Rafiq Baba, Organising Secretary S. Avtar Singh and others.
