Bandipora : The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 25000 on a private school in Bandipora for selling textbooks in its premises in violation of government rules.
On Thursday a joint team of Revenue, Legal Metrology and Food Safety headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora conducted inspection of various schools and registered a case against a private school for selling books in the school.
The inspection team seized books in bulk and also registered a case against the school authorities.
Earlier the department had also imposed a fine of Rs 3000 on a bookseller for selling books on exorbitant rates and violating legal metrology laws.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has constituted various inspection teams to keep a check on the violation of rules with regard to the sale of books.
