JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting to discuss the plantation and beautification of ongoing Jammu-Akhnoor road project.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner, JMC, Arvind Kotwal, Director Floriculture, Babila Rakwal, Chief Engineer, I&FC, Vinod Kumar Gupta, DFO, Social Forestry Urban, Sanjay Kumar Gupta, DFO Urban Jammu, Anup Soni, GM NHIDCL, Vijay Kumar besides Town Planners of JDA and senior functionaries of concerned departments.
The Div Com passed necessary directions for preparing a comprehensive pre-planning draft for several ways of beautification of the mega project of Jammu-Akhnoor road.
He directed the Floriculture Department to share list of plants to be used for beautification of Jammu city as well as for the said project. Town Planners were directed to provide essential support for making design of beautification of elevated corridors and free spaces available in service lanes of Jammu-Akhnoor road to be put under beautification program.
The Div Com further emphasized on use of cost effective materials like drums, rubber tyres, cylindrical tyres and other such material.
Later, a detailed discussion was also held regarding various ways for plantation and beautification of Jammu. The Div Com directed Urban Forestry to identify places for plantation in the city and start plantation drive.
Earlier, on the directions of Divisional Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Rahul Sharma convened a meeting regarding paddy procurement and directed the concerned authorities to visit paddy procurement centres on regular basis for proper monitoring of procurement centres. The meeting was attended by Director Agriculture, H K Razdan, Director, FCS&CA, Amit Sharma, Manager FCI, Raj Kumar, Area Manager Jammu and FCI, Ravi Shastri.
