Row over remark on bank recruitments

Though allegations of illegal appointments against the Jammu & Kashmir bank dominated the assembly proceeding during its budget session last winter but then Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu rejected allegations as usual . Now almost after 10 long months Governor Satya Pal Malik virtually embarrassed PDP and BJP by accusing them of forcing J&K Bank Chairman to replace the deserving candidates by their political workers for appointment as Representational Executives (REs) during the time they were sharing power in the state. Allegations from Governor in absence or presence of a popular government on appointments in a premier financial institution of the state ,i.e, Jammu & Kashmir Bank is embarrassing  for any party or individual and same holds good for PDP and BJP. Unfortunately within less than 24 hours the governor refuted all the statements he had made during an interview on a news channel in Delhi. Had the recording of interview been not available with the news channel and also on the social networking sites the people won’t find any scope to disbelieve the refutals of governor but governor can’t contradict the statements he made during the interview telecasted live across the country. Not only Governor himself but Chairman J&K Bank also contradicted his statement on allegations of illegal appointments in the bank. Governor during his interview created an impression that genuine applicants were appointed on his intervention on some complaints against the posts occupied by illegal appointees but Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Bank Parvez Ahmad made it emphatically clear that 582 candidates put in the waiting list were appointed on the recommendations of the governor on the vacancies cleared after the expansion of the bank branches but not on the posts already occupied by the first lot of selectees dubbed illegal appointees by the governor during his interview with a news channel in Delhi.

If governor still believes that he stands by his allegations on illegal appointments in Jammu & Kashmir bank better it would for him to order a high level impartial probe through an impartial investigative agency of the central or the state government as otherwise he himself has brought into great disrepute the highest constitutional office of Jammu & Kashmir state.

In his refutal statement governor said that he did not accuse any particular party or individual during the interview but keeping in view the clarification of  Chairman Jammu & Kashmir bank that allegations of irregularities in the selection process stand contested and clarified and as such even naives can understand that governor’s attempt to embarrass PDP and BJP on charges of illegal appointees  has drawn a flak and ironically the governor’s own statements on allegations of illegal appointments in Jammu & Kashmir bank has embarrassed the governor himself and none else.
