Khelo India Games for Ghagwal, Rajpura blocks declared open

Samba : Subsequent to successful completion of Khelo India games at block Nud, Sumb and Samba, Additional District Development Commissioner Samba Pankaj Magotra in presence of SSP Samba Dr. Koushal Kumar Sharma Monday declared open the Khelo India Games for Ghagwal and Rajpura Blocks at Government Girls High School, Ghagwal.
Khelo India sports for peace and development is a initiative of Government of India in which sports competition are envisaged to be held in all blocks of district Samba in phased manner. The event today entered in 4th phase in which 1800 young participants have enrolled for a bouquet of sports events including, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Volleyball, Athletics, wrestling, Kabbadi and Football. Competitions in these disciplines will be played starting from today till 2nd of November in various age categories including under 17 yrs under 20yrs and above 20 yrs in both Girls and Boys group, followed by a grand closing ceremony at Samba.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Pankaj Magotra appreciated youth of Ghagwal and Rajpura blocks for showing keen interest in the sports activities by registering for Khelo-India events in such a large number and exhorted them to show-case their talent in these competitions. He said “the tremendous potential of youth of this twin Blocks Ghagwal and Rajpura, needs to be channelized in nation building and making our state and nation a sports super power. He also thanked the local for turning in large numbers and urged them to imbibe sports culture in their daily routine to remain fit and healthy emotionally & physically.
ADD C along with SSP Samba interacted with the participants and also witnessed inaugural games in Badminton, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi and Wrestling which continued till late evening.
SDM Ghagwal Ritu Mahajan, B.D.O Ghagwal Vishavjeet besides officers and officials from Army, Police, DYSS and Education Department were also present on the occasion.
