Kashmir shuts against killing of researcher-turned-militant Sabzar, his associate

Srinagar/Oct,25: A complete shut down on Thursday to mourn the killing of a research scholar-turn militant Sabzar Sofi and his associate Asif Ahmad Shergojir crippled normal life Life accross Kashmir. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik called for the valley-wide shutdown against the killings of two Kashmiri militants, including a research scholar, in a gunfight.Sabzar Sofi, a Ph.D scholar who joined militancy in 2016 and his associate were killed in a gunfight in Nowgam Wednesday this week.

Shops, public transport and other businesses remained shut in the city and other district headquarters of the valley and only private transport was seen in the uptown areas here. Train services between north Kashmir’s Baramulla and Banihal town of Jammu region was also suspended..Geelani and Mirwaiz remained under house arrest for the third consecutive day and JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik continued in preventive custody to prevent their participation in the protests.
