Srinagar/Oct, 23: Law enforcing authorities Tuesday morning sealed city centre Lal Chowk in Srinagar city to thwart attempts of a protest march called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killing spree.Meanwhile JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik was in the wee hours arrested from Koker Bazar area from where he attempted to take a protest March.

Monday evening city traffic police SSP had issued an advisory, asking commuters to use an alternate route as “the stretch of road from Amira Kadal to Regal Chowk will be blocked for traffic”.
Witness said that barricades have been erected by the police at Amira Kadal and the Regal Chowk to prevent any movement towards the historic Lal Chowk. Meanwhile police in the wee hours arrested JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik from Koker Bazar area from where he tried to take out a protest march. Malik has gone into hiding on Monday to evade arrest ahead of a call for protest march by Joint Resistance Leadership of which he is a part. Malik appeared in a local mosque in Koker Bazar area during Morning congregational prayers and was arrested when he tried to take out a protest march after morning prayers.

JRL has called for a march to Lal Chowk today to protest the killing spree and Kulgam “carnage”.

Seven civilians were killed in a blast at the site of a gunfight in Laroo village of Kulgam on Sunday morning.
