Srinagar : Thousands of people on Wednesday marched with the bodies of two militants and the sons of the owner of a house in Fateh Kadal where militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces.
An eye witness said that the bodies of Lashkar militants Mehraj ud Din Bangroo and Faid Mushtaq Waza and the house owner’s son Rayees Ahmad were interred at the martyrs’ graveyard in Eidgah where thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers. He said the bodies were marched to Eidgah in a huge procession amid pro-freedom sloganeering and thousands of people attended the funeral prayers later. Women were seen wailing and beating their chests as the bodies were marched towards the Eidgah.
Police have said that Ahmad was an active accomplice of the militants and that he refused to come out of the house when the gunfight broke out Wednesday morning. A spokesman said they were investigating his role.
