Srinagar : Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Yaseen here on Tuesday once again expressed concern over the repeated attempts of harassment and intimidation to Kashmiri students studying in various educational institutions of the country by extremist elements. He cautioned that this ugly state of affairs if not arrested urgently was bound to create a wall of hatred and alienation among the youth of Kashmir and their families towards mainstream.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hakeem said that implicating students in frivolous cases by the concerned university authorities, including recent happenings in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has created a deep fear psychosis and sense of insecurity among the students and their parents adding that about 1200 Kashmiri students studying in AMU have reportedly decided to return back to Kashmir. He said if the situation is allowed to drift away like this, it would be detrimental to the overall national interests. He said it was prime need of the hour that both Central and state governments should initiate realistic measures to restore the trust and honour of the Kashmiri youth and work towards securing and safeguarding their future. “It was primarily imperative, if Governor S P Malik wants a bigger role of youth in the overall affairs of the state, “Hakeem Yaseen added while urging for an end to all forms of atrocities done to the Kashmiri youth. He said Kashmiri youth want to live a dignified life with socio-political empowerment adding that the rulers at the helm of affairs should fulfill their urges and aspirations without any further delay.
Hakeem Yaseen said that the prevailing chaotic socio-political situation in the state was the result of broken promises and usurping the people’ s mandate for capturing power and satiating petty interests by the successive Central and state governments. He said once they lose power, they start shedding crocodile tears adding that the people of the state are now politically mature enough who cannot be be-fooled by these political gigglers.
While cautioning the Central leadership, Hakeem Yaseen has urged the need for resuming a fresh meaningful dialogue process with all stakeholders of the vexed Kashmir issue for bringing peace and tranquility in the sub-continent.
