Arrangements reviewed for conduct of Mega Legal Services Camp in Kupwara

Kupwara : In connection with mega legal services-cum-awareness camp to be organized in Kupwara on 18th October at TRC, a high-level meeting convened by DC Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir and co-chaired by Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, Mohammad Ibrahim Wani Tuesday reviewed arrangement and modalities in place for the event. Hon’ble Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Gita Mittal is scheduled to inaugurate the camp.
The meeting was attended by judicial officers, ADC Handwara, ACR, ACD, SDM Karnah, SSP Handwara, CEO, CMO, DIO, CHO and other district line officers.
The Program organised by the district administration in collaboration with the judiciary aims to make general masses aware of their entitlements under the law and apprise them about the availability of free legal services, besides to connect them to several welfare schemes offered by various departments.
The DC directed all the participating departments to establish stalls and help-desks for aiding intending beneficiaries soliciting services. He further said all the departments involved have been identified and they shall make respective services available on the occasion for awareness of the general public.
He instructed ICDS, Social Welfare, Education, Health, Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Municipalities, Labour, Rural Development, Revenue, Banks, PHE, PDD, EDI, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Transport, Disaster Management and other concerned departments to identify beneficiaries for delivery and demonstration of services in the camp so that the message, information and desire to seek services by people spreads far and wide.
DC emphasized upon all to rehearse their roles well and ensure order and discipline keeping in mind the footfall. He suggested all participating departments to number their stalls and train their employees beforehand to ensure easy accessibility of beneficiaries and other participants to their stalls and help desks.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal and Sessions Judge Kupwara said collective, concerted efforts and coordinated approach between the judiciary and district administration will make the event a huge success.
He stressed that integrity to deliver services and perform duties by officers, empathy and moral sense of those at the helm of affairs is the need of the hour towards resurrecting the confidence of people in public delivery systems and this legal services cum- awareness-camp should send this message loud and clear. He urged all concerned to demonstrate their ways of catering to the needs of the people, functioning of their departments, process of delivery of services with cooperation.
He said this should be taken as an opportunity to help those in need of assistance and guidance for availing benefits offered by government through various departments now and always.
