Kishtwar : District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana Tuesday inaugurated Sports festival under ‘Khelo India’-Sports for Peace and Development, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
The event was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports under the supervision of DYSSO Deewan Chand Thakur .
Among others present were SSP Rajinder Kumar Gupta, ASP , CEO, CAO besides other district and Sectoral officers.
Around 654 students including 409 boys and 245 girls from 22 schools attended the function.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest impressed upon the students to play with heart and soul if they want to shine at national and international level.
He informed that more play fields are going to be developed under ‘Khelo India’ across the district to provide opportunity to youth of remote areas to excel in Sports.
He advised the students to follow the spirit of sportsmanship while playing.
SSP, while addressing the students, asked them to actively participate in sports activity along with studies to become energetic and agile.
He informed that under civic action program, police department is going to include more games like squash and lawn tennis in the sports events.
He further informed police is organizing various sports activities in district including run for unity is from October 31 2018.
DSSYO, Deewan Chand stated that elaborate arrangements have been put in place by the administration to provide Sports equipments, refreshment, Uniform and transportation facilities to the participating sports persons.
The sports festival will witness competitions in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volley Ball and Athletics.
