Srinagar : The families of slain five militants who were in an encounter on September 21, last month in Sumular village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday staged a protest to demand the bodies of slain militants who according to them were their beloved
Eye witness said the families assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and held a protest demonstration, demanding the return of the bodies of their militant kins.The protesting families accused the police of delaying the legal formalities, saying that the mortal remains of their militant kins should be handed over to the families.They said that after meeting both Deputy Commissioners of Bandipora and Baramulla, DNA samples were taken for identification of the bodies.
“Two weeks have passed since the DNA sample was taken but unfortunately we have not been replied so far,” they said.Earlier on September 21, Army claimed to have killed five non local militants in a gunfight in Bandipora village of Shogbaba area of Sumlar.
However, Hizb, a militant outfit had claimed that the five militants killed were locals, identifying them as Hyder Ali from Brazul Kulgam, Muhammad Umar from Shopian, Muhammad Sidiq from Bandipora, Mawiya from Kangan and Usman from Lolab.
