Khelo India: sports competition for Vijaypur, Ramgarh blocks declared open

Samba : After successful completion of competitions for Purmandal and Bari Brahamna blocks, District Development Commissioner Sushma Chauhan today declared open Khelo India games for Ramgarh and Vijaypur blocks here at Sports Stadium Gurha Slathia at an impressive and well attended inaugural function.
Sports competitions as part of the Government of India’s Khelo India sports for peace and development initiative are envisaged to be held for all blocks of the District in a phased manner over the next one month in a bouquet of sports disciplines including Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Badminton, Kabaddi, Athletic, Wrestling, Football, Swimming, Hockey and Unified games. The competitions are being held in under 17, under 20 and above 20 age groups amongst the sports person who had registered for these competitions during an extensive registration drive carried out by the District administration prior to the holding of the games. The youth of the District have shown an overwhelming response for the games evidenced by more than 6500 registrations for team and individual events. More than 2000 athletes of Ramgarh and Vijaypur blocks have registered for Khelo India sports competitions to be held at GurhaSlathia Stadium upto 12/10/2018
During the inaugural ceremony, the Khelo India flag was unfurled and the Khelo India games torch brought from Smailpur Stadium as a sequel to the conclusion of the the Block level Competitions for Purmandal and Bari Brahmana blocks was lit by the Deputy Commissioner in the GurhaSlathia stadium amidst thunderous applaud from participants and local crowd.The people from the adjoining villages who had gathered in large number in the stadium to cheer up the participants, also joined the joined the Deputy Commissioner and other officers in taking a pledge to promote sports in their life and also people around them.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner complimented the youth of the Vijaypur and Ramgarh blocks for showing keen interest in the sports activities by registering for the Khelo India events in such a large number and exhorted them to display their best in the upcoming sports events to be able to compete in district level events to be organised at Sports Stadium Samba .She also thanked the locals for turning out in large numbers to cheer the participants.She exhorted the audience to imbibe sports in their daily routine to remain calm, physically and emotionally fit and disciplined to be able to contribute towards a healthy and happy society.
The Deputy Commissioner took time to personally interact with the participants and also witnessed inaugural games in Volleyball, Football, Badminton and Kabaddi. On the occasion, she announced that after the completion of the Block level games, the winning and runner up team from each block would participate in the district level competitions followed by a grand closing ceremony at sports stadium, Samba.
On the occasion, the Deputy commissioner was accompanied by Sh. Pankaj Magotra, Addl. District Development Commissioner Samba, Sh. Faisal Qureshi, Addl. SP. Samba, Aijaz Qaiser, ACD Samba, and other District and Block level Officers and officers from the Army, BSF and CRPF.A large gathering of the locals witnessed keenly contested matches which continued till late in the evening.
