DDC Budgam reviews Urs Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din (RA) arrangements

Budgam : District Development Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar Thursday visited the Chare-Shareef shrine here to take stock of the arrangements made for smooth conduct of annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA).
While reviewing arrangements made by concerned departments, the DDC was apprised that arrangements regarding the availability of essential commodities particularly rice, sugar, flour, K-oil and LPG have already been put in place. She directed FCS&CA department to ensure an additional quota of essential food items for the consumers during the Urs period.
She directed PHE and PDD departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the town and vicinity areas during the Ursdays. The EO of Municipality Chrar-e-Sharief was directed to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness and ensure regular lifting of garbage from the Shrine area.
Regarding medical facilities during Urs days, the department of health will establish three medical camps equipped fully with trained medical staff and emergency aid besides a mobile blood bank in and around the Shrine premises particularly in the areas were a huge gathering of devotees is expected to assemble, the meeting was told.
Emphasizing the need for pre and post Urs sanitation drives, the DDC directed the concerned to intensify the cleanliness drive with the focus on roads, lanes, drains, besides regular lifting of garbage/wastage from all identified spots and ensure its onward safe dumping.
To negotiate any emergency in case of fire incidents, Fire and Emergency department was directed to put in place an adequate number of fire tenders along with men at the shrine premises and also in town.
Regarding traffic management during Urs days DDC was told that ARTO Budgam in close liaison with Traffic and Police department has designed a plan to regulate traffic in and around the town.
Keeping in view huge gathering of devotees expected to attend the Urs, the DDC directed concerned authorities to keep sufficient passenger transport available at all prime spots during peak days.
While reviewing the status of construction works related to Shrine, the DDC directed JKPCC to complete all remaining works in a time-bound manner.
A control room has also been established where concerned departments shall be coordinating the activities regarding the conduct of the annual Urs.
SDM Chadoora Aziz Ahmad Rather, Tehsildar Chrar-e-Sharief, concerned engineers of JKPCC and Housing Board, representatives of Auqaf Committee and other concerned were present in the meeting.
