Congress remembers Mahatma Gandhi on his anniversary

Srinagar : The J&K Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday paid homage to father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary at party headquarters. A meeting of senior party functionaries and leaders of the Party was held Tuesday under the Chairmanship of JKPCC President G.A. Mir, who paid floral tributes to Gandhi Ji on this occasion. Remembering his selfless services and sacrifices to the Nation, Secretary AICC I/C J&K Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Khan (MLA) who was the chief guest recalled his selfless services and sacrifices to the nation. Senior party leaders Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Taj Mohi U Din, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani Farooq Andrabi, Surinder Singh Channi and other leaders also addressed the meeting. Paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the party leaders describing him an apostle of peace, describing the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi as relevant for all the generations to come,

Recalling great contributions of Mahatma Gandhi to the freedom struggle, Mir said that Nation would continue to remain indebted to Father of the Nation for the-selfless services and sacrifices he had given for achieving freedom from the British Colonial Rule. Mir observed that the great tribute which can be paid to him would be to revive his philosophy of maintaining communal harmony and defeating communal forces in the Country, who are hell bent upon to damage age old tradition of brotherhood in the country, besides strengthening the bonds of friendship and togetherness in the Country.

Pradesh Congress Committee also paid glowing tributes to Former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 114th Birth Anniversary and lauded his contributions and services to the Nation, saying that Shastri has served the Nation to the best of his ability. Among others who addressed the meeting included Irfan Naqib, Abdul Gani Khan, Abid Kashmir, Mohd Sultan, Shameema Iqbal, Imtiyaz Parray, Zahid Hussain Jan, Sahil Farooq, Gh. Mohi U Din Bhat, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, Gulam Mohd Sheikh Mohd Iqbal Mir, Ali Mond Mantoo, Mushtaq Ahmad Bazaz, Irshad Ahmad Wani, Basharat Ahmad Nath, Hilal Ahmad Wani, Gulsher Khan,Shameema Khan, Saira, Shaheena, Zulfkar Qureshi and others.
