Srinagar : Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam Monday chaired a meeting to review the process of recruitment of 2000 SPOs and over 2000 Constables from border areas of the State and implementation of other projects/issues of Police and Prison Departments.

The meeting was attended by R K Goyal, Principal Secretary Home and Dilbag Singh, Director General of Police, J&K.

During the discussions, the Chief Secretary stressed upon expeditious recruitment of 2000 SPOs and over 2000 Constables from the border areas of Kashmir and Jammu Divisions. He further stated that all necessary pre-requisites for initiating recruitment for the posts of Constables for 2 Border Battalions each for Kashmir and Jammu Divisions be finalized expeditiously. This recruitment would provide substantial employment opportunities to youth living in border areas of the State, apart from strengthening the security grid, he further said.

During the meeting, arrangements including intra-State movement and stay, for induction of additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), specially provided for election duty were also discussed in adequate detail. Besides, the present status and the plan for up-gradation of infrastructure available in various prisons across the State were extensively discussed and further course of action was evolved.

Besides, the Chief Secretary directed regular monitoring of construction of Individual and Community Type Bunkers along International Border and LoC in Jammu Division and called upon the Nodal officers appointed at the State, Divisional and District Levels to accord greater attention to various aspects of ongoing construction activities.
