Sensitize voters about Panchayat Polls: DEO to Nodal Officers

Kishtwar : In view of ensuing Panchayat elections, a meeting with all Nodal Officers of Panchayats of District Kishtwar was held under the chairmanship of District Election Officer, Angrez Singh Rana here at the conference hall, new DC Office Complex, Kishtwar.

The meeting was attended by ADC Kishtwar, Pawan Parihar, ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, SDM Paddar Rishi Kumar Sharma, DPO Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Bhutyal besides Nodal Officers of Panchayats.

The DEO asked Nodal Officers to spread mass awareness about the importance of Panchayati Raj Institutions wherein eligible voters be made aware about the right to franchise and should be encouraged to cast their votes which is a basic right as well as responsibility of every citizen.

Terming Municipal and Panchayat elections as a significant decision for the state as the grassroots level institutions play a pivotal role in the development of the nation.

He hoped that Panchayati Raj system will usher a new surge in grass root level developmental activities.

ADC Kishtwar also highlighted the importance of elections and cautioned all the participants and advised them not to indulge in any kind of political activity besides strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct in letter and spirit.

He directed all the Nodal Officers to conduct daily meetings in their respective panchayats from October 01 to 15 and submit report along with the photographs for further submission to higher authorities.For this, he asked Nodal Officers to avail the services of Numberdars and Chowkidars.

ACD Kishtwar asked all the participants to work in tandem and synergy so that fruitful results will come out and also shared the mobile numbers of BDO’s of district Kishtwar.

DPO Kishtwar apprised the meeting about the amendments made in J&K Panchayati Raj Act-1989.
