Rajouri : Health department has vaccinated 15618 children in first five days of Measles Rubella (MR) vaccination drive in Rajouri district with overwhelming response being received from all corners of the district.
MR vaccination, a nationwide vaccination drive, is being carried out under the supervision of Director Health Services Jammu and DDC Rajouri.
A road map for this vaccination drive was prepared and in the initial stage, children in education and religious institutions will be covered while later it will become a regular vaccination process in health institutions.
District Immunization Officer, Dr. Anees Nabi informed that teams of department under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr. Suresh Gupta are carrying out immunization across the district and 15618 children between the age group of 09 months to 15 years have been covered in first five days.
Dr. Anees added that after some resistance from few parents in initial stage, overwhelming response is being received from all sections now and coverage rate of children is increasing with each passing day.
Meanwhile, Saturday, MR vaccination was carried out in National Public Higher Secondary School Rajouri and more than 550 students were made aware about this vaccination in presence of staff members.
