Advisor (K) inaugurates ENT Workshop at Police Hospital Srinagar

Srinagar: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar Friday visited Police Hospital Srinagar and inaugurated 3 days long ENT Surgical Workshop titled ‘ENT Festival 2018’ in presence of Director General of Police J&K Dilbagh Singh.

The ENT Workshop is being organized by Police Hospital Srinagar & Continuous Medical Education and Research Association (CMERA).

ADGP Muneer Ahmad Khan, IGP Jagjit Kumar, other senior police officers, HoD ENT Dr. Bilal A. Raja, senior renowned ENT doctors from the state and other parts of the country were present on the occasion.

On the inaugural day, live surgeries were conducted from two operation theatres of the hospital by the renowned guest faculty and pioneers of ENT Fraternity across the globe including Dr. Satish Jain from Jaipur, Dr Virendra Ghaisas from Pune and Dr. Sanjay Sachdeva from New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the ENT Festival, Advisor Kumar appreciated the efforts of Police Hospital and others for organizing the festival and bringing renowned doctors of ENT fraternity at this hospital to benefit the jawans and their families.

He expressed the hope that this opportunity would not only help the patients here but also proved beneficial for the doctors to enhance their medical knowledge/skills while learning from the live surgeries being performed by the renowned doctors.

Assuring the support of the state government for smooth functioning of the hospital, the Advisor said every kind of help would be provided for taking forward the similar kind of initiatives of the police hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP J&K Dilbagh Singh thanked the Advisor for inaugurating the ENT Festival and encouraging the organizers for holding such events in the state. He also thanked the senior doctors from the country for visiting and performing the surgeries and showing their medical skills.

He said in the past too, Police Hospital has taken many initiatives in the field of medical education and JK Police will always be there for any kind of support. He also thanked the centre and state government for every kind of help to the Police Hospital and providing benefits to the police personnel’s and their family members.

The multiple procedures conducted were aimed at re-brushing the basics of FESS including anterior skull base level 2, Advanced Fess, Thyroidectomy, Rhinoplasty, Functional Aesthetic Septo-Rhinoplasty, Tympanoplasty, Oculoplastic etc.

Dr. Bilal A Raja, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital while thanking the Advisor for visiting the hospital and inaugurating the festival requested him for augmentation of doctors and staff at the police hospital.

On the occasion, Advisor K Vijay Kumar felicitated Prof. Dr. Mohammad Maqbool, a renowned doctor from the state with Life Time Achievement Award for his extraordinary contribution in the field of Otolaryngology. Dr. Satish Jain, Dr Virendra Ghaisas and Dr Sanjay Sachdeva were also felicitated by the DGP for visiting the state and showing their surgery skills.

A special session was also been introduced titled ‘Hands on Workshop” sheep nose dissection with debriber under the guidance of expert faculty which is going to be of great benefit to young and upcoming ENT Surgeons in Endoscopic Nasal Surgeries.

The event was attended by various doctors of ENT fraternity from various parts of India including Bangalore, Indore, UP, Haryana, Patna, Punjab, Jaipur, Ranchi, Pune, Lucknow etc. who have shown their keen interest in the field of academics.
