Workshop on Disaster Mgmt concludes at Baramulla

Baramulla: As part of the Sustainable Reduction in Disaster Risk (SRDR) being sponsored by the Divisional Administration Kashmir, two days training workshop on ” Updation of District Disaster Management Plan” Wednesday concluded at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.

The workshop was attended by representatives of various departments, volunteers, functionaries of District Disaster Management Authority and various others.

The workshop was organized by J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (JKIMPARD). Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba was the chief guest on the occasion.

A series of lectures on the topic were delivered by the resource persons, who stressed for adopting more effective means during disasters so that loss to the life and property is mitigated.

Coordinator Prof G M Dar underlined the significance of the workshop and deliberated on disaster preparedness besides presenting a detailed account of various historical disasters including floods, earthquakes, landslides etc. He stressed for educating the people at grassroot levels regarding disaster mitigation and exhorted for applying proper methodologies in times of eventualities.

ADC, while speaking on the occasion complimented the participants and said calamities cannot be avoided but its effects can be mitigated by proper management and preparedness.

Later, commendation certificates were given to the participants who participated in the workshop.
