Kulgam, : Government gunman turned soldier was laid to rest with full military honor in his native Shurat village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district Tuesday.
Mukhtar Ahmed Malik alias Muktar Gola, a former Ikhwan commander was shot dead by militants inside his home yesterday. He was affiliated with 162 Territorial Army and was on leave to mourn the death of his son Shakir Ahmed who had died a couple of days before in a road accident.
The body of Mukhtar Ahmed was shifted to Badami bagh Army headquarters where top army brass paid tribute to him. Reports said that his body was airlifted on Tuesday morning from Badami bagh headquarters to 9RR based military camp located in Devsar Kulgam where Commanding Officer and others paid tributes to him and observed wreath laying ceremony in his honor.
Reports said that the body of slain soldier arrived in his native village Shurat where he was laid to rest. Soldiers, family members and relatives of the deceased participated in his last rites.
An Army official said that his body was brought to Badami bagh headquarters to pay tributes to him. “It was really painful to see him dead because he had arrived in his village to mourn the killing of his son. The act of militants is unpardonable,” said the official adding the army will take care of the family of the deceased.
