Inter Polytechnic debate competition to celebrate Engineers’ Day in Jmu

Jammu : As a tribute to one of the first and finest engineers of India, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, an Inter Polytechnic Debate Competition MANTHAN -2018 on topic “Skill based Education is the Key to Success” to celebrate Engineers’ Day Government was held at Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu here Saturday.
Director, Technical Education, J&K, Anoo Malhotra was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The function started with lightening of lamp followed by paying homage to the Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya.
While speaking on the occasion, Director Technical Education highlighted the contributions of Sir M Visvesvaraya to the society and appreciated the role of engineers in nation building. She also congratulated the Principal, staff and students on receiving the Outstanding Polytechnic award at NITTTR Chandigarh. Principal, Er Arun Bangotra presented the welcome address and motivated the students to work hard and use their engineering intelligence, knowledge and skill for the welfare of the nation, society and humanity.
In the Debate competition, a total of 28 students participated from Government Polytechnic colleges from Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Reasi, Women Polytechnic and NITS Polytechnic.
Rizwana Hamid from Govt. Polytechnic, Jammu clinched the top spot, while second position was shared by Joy Abhishek Nawab from NITS Polytechnic and Mehvish from Government Polytechnic Jammu whereas Pardeep Sharma from Government Polytechnic, Kathua and Raman Sharma from Government Polytechnic Udhampur shared the third place.
Government Polytechnic Jammu bagged the overall Trophy of Debate Competition MANTHAN 2018.
The judges for the competition were HODs of the college including Er Sanjay Gupta, Amit Sharma and Ar Ritika Wadher,.
On the occasion, the Award of Excellence was received by Workshop Instructor, Arun Sharma, RAC Instructor, Shakti Kumar, and Instructor Electrician Ramesh Chander Salaria.
The event was coordinated by Lecturer, Er Jasdeep Kour.
The event was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Er Atul Sudan while Er Ajay Thapa and Er Sanam Gupta made all the arrangements for smooth conduct of function.
Among others, who were present on the occasion were Er H A Bhardwaj, Principal Government Polytechnic Udhampur, Vinod Azad, Principal Government Polytechnic Poonch, Er Inderjeet Singh, Workshop Superintendent, HODs of various department and other staff and students of the various Polytechnics of Jammu Division.
