Sopore : Police Tuesday claimed that one of the militants Liyaqat Ahmed Lone alias Umar Khalid killed in Galoora Handwara encounter Tuesday was involved in the killing of Hurriyat activist Hakim Rehman Sultani.
A police spokesperson said that Liyaqat along with other LeT militants Abdul Gani Khawaja resident of Kralgund and Majid Mir resident of Nowpora Sopore are involved in the killing of Hakim-ur-Rehman Sultani resident of Bomai Sopore.
“A case vide FIR number 70/2018 under section 307 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act already stands registered at Police Station Bomai.
Liyakat and Furqan the two militants were killed in Galoora encounter Tuesday. Pertinently, Hakim-ur-Rehman Sultani was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside his home in Sopore on Sep 8 (Saturday). Militant outfits and separatist groups had condemned his killing and blamed Indian agencies for it.
Joint Resistance Leadership has already made a fervent appeal to the people of Sopore and Zainageer to observe a complete shutdown on 14th September, Friday as a strong protest against the gruesome killing of Hakeem-ur-Rehman Sultani of Bomai Sopore at the hands of Indian agencies.
