Samoon reviews progress of projects under NABARD

Srinagar : Principal Secretary, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Monday convened a meeting to review the status of various ongoing projects of the department being implemented under NABARD in the State.
The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, M Y Chaproo, Director Sheep Husbandry Kashmir, Dr Mohammad Sharief, representatives of NABARD, Banks and senior officers of allied departments. Besides Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Victor Kaul and Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
On the occasion, Samoon took a detailed review of various ongoing projects and stressed on the officials to complete all the projects in time. The meeting also discussed the future projects of the department for the uplift and overall welfare of the people.
While stressing on NABARD officials to invest more in the Agriculture and its allied departments like Animal and Sheep husbandry by upgrading infrastructure and improving other facilities, Samoon said there is the huge potential to create more employment in the state given the potential of these sectors.
Later, Samoon chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the Central Sector Scheme ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship Development’ (DEDS). The meeting was informed that total cases sponsored in 2018-2019 are 2337 under which 66 cases stand sanctioned so far, which includes 23 in Kashmir and 43 in Jammu.
The Principal Secretary asked the NABARD and Bank officials to start awareness programs so that the people can be benefited from these schemes. He also asked them to provide training to the officials of the department so that all the benefits of these schemes are properly implemented for its beneficiaries.
He said the department is in a process to ensure greater transparency as the department has a huge potential to generate economy in the state. He asked the officials to lessen the communication gap for the better output.
