Jammu: Slamming Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan for his “dictatorial attitude”, former Ranji Trophy and ICL player Dhruv Mahajan on Sunday called it a day as the selector of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
The JKCA has roped in Pathan as a player and mentor for upcoming season’s Ranji Trophy Tournament.
Dhruv Mahajan, who had captained the J&K Ranji Trophy team four times and was acting as selector after retiring from domestic cricket, lashed out at Pathan for his alleged unwanted interference into the selection process for different age groups.
“Irfan is unnecessarily interfering into the selection process,” Mahajan here told UNI on Sunday.
“His interference into the selection process is an utter violation of the JKCA Constitution,” said the former ICL player.
Mahajan however, said that he does not want to be part of the committee, which is not adhering to Constitutional norms.
“When selection process is influenced by a person who is not a part of it, only because he is a Indian cricketer, there is no fun of staying in it,” said Mahajan after quitting.
He said, “Pathan himself is a player and he should have been aware of norms of cricketing body and as a cricketer, he should have been following the rules and disciplines, unfortunately he is not and so I preferred to stay away.”
“Pathan on many occasions had also over-ruled and objected to the decisions taken by the selectors, which is absolutely unacceptable,” alleged former JKCA skipper.
