DDC Kathua rolls out sports event calendar under ‘Khelo India’

Kathua : District Development Commissioner Rohit Khajuria Friday rolled out calendar of sports events to be held under Khelo-India scheme being held from October 8 to October 23 at District and Block levels.
Chairing a meeting, the DDC directed concerned officers for effective implementation of ‘Sports for Peace and Development’ a vertical scheme to revive sports culture at grass-roots level with the objective to build strong framework for all sports played in the country and developing India as a great sports nation.
The DDC impressed upon the officers to encourage youth and students to participate in sports for their overall development. It was also decided in the meeting that the registration of participants will be marked at www.kathua.gov.in (District Administration Kathua website) in Football, Volleyball, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling and Athletics in U-17, U-19 and above 19 year category for schools as well as non-school going players.
The DDC also called for strict adherence to the guidelines for promoting sports activities in the area.
The meeting was attended by ADC Ghansham Singh, ASP Nasir Khan, ACD Sukhpal Singh, CEO Bishan Singh, Principals of various colleges and concerned zonal physical education officers.
