Rajouri : District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad Tuesday declared open a marathon sports tournament as part of the centre’s Khelo India initiative, “Sports for Peace and Development”.
The event was attended by the SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas, Chief Planning officer Abdul Hamid, ACD Rajouri Akhter Hussain Qazi, District Panchayat Officer, Abdul Khabir, District officer NYK besides other officers and officials of Sports Department
The DDC informed that plan has been finalized for almost two month sports events, to last till October 31, 2018.
He said the opening tournament will witness separate competitions for Boys and Girls in Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Hand ball, Athletics and other games, at District Head Quarter.
While interacting with media, he informed that 17 teams from Higher Secondary Schools (viz HSS Rajouri, HSS Saaj, HSS Thannamandi, MET Thannamandi, HSS Manjakote, HSS Doongi, HSS Chingus, HSS Ghambir Mughlan, HSS Dehri Ralyote, Army Goodwill, International HSS Rajouri, GHSS Girls etc.) shall participate and around 06 different games shall be played, besides this Separate games shall be played at Block & Zonal Levels.
He also said that the outstanding performers will be felicitated on the final day of the programme, while district administration will also facilitate the local players for their participation at State and National level competitions.
