Srinagar / Aug, 26 : The Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed on Sunday for the second day as the men and road clearing machines are working overtime to clear the landslides near Ramban on this highway
Traffic officials said a clearance operation is underway in Magarkote sector of the highway which was hit by the landslides on Saturday.
“Travellers are advised to contact control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar before undertaking a journey,” said an official.
Scores of vehicles were also stranded on the highway. Authorities made arrangements on Saturday for lodging of the stranded passengers in some government schools and other shelters in Ramsoo area.
Free food was also served by the local administration in coordination with civilians living in the area.
