Jammu: Raksha Bandhan, the festival of bond and faith between sisters and brothers, was celebrated on Sundaywith religious fervour and enthusiasm in this winter capital of the state.
Markets in various areas of Jammu city were abuzz with customers, especially women, since early morning. All major markets in the city witnessed a heavy rush of customers besides long traffic jams.
Women were seen visiting various stalls to choose colourful and attractive ‘rakhis’ for their brothers.On this day, brothers pledge to protect their sisters from evil.
Kite flying competition like in other parts of the country is also popular in Jammu city to mark the festival.
The sky was full of kites, with people standing on their roof tops amid hot and humid weather to enjoy the view.
Meanwhile, police have appealed to the people not to use, manufacture and sale of manjha (Chinese string) as the government has imposed ban on it.
