Srinagar /Aug 25 : Traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway was on Saturday closed after landslides blocked road near Ramsoo.
SSP Ramban Anita Sharma said a heavy slide blocked the highway near BDO office Ramsoo during night intervening Friday and Saturday
“Clearing operations have begun. Scores of vehicles are currently stranded,” said an official.
The highway is the lifeline of supplies for the landlocked Kashmir Valley. The Yatris on their way from Jammu to Srinagar for visiting holy Amarnath cave were not also allowed to move towards the Valley on Saturday due to the highway’s closure.
