Srinagar: Train service remained suspended for the third day on Friday as a precautionary measure in the Kashmir valley, official sources said.

Train service will be resumed tomorrow on all routes, sources told UNI.

They said on August 21 it was decided to suspend all trains for three days as a precautionary measure in the Kashmir valley in view of the Eid-ul-Azha on August 22.

The decision to suspend the train service was taken keeping in view the experience of Eid-ul-Fitr when there were stone pelting incidents at several places, causing damage to railway property and injury to passengers.

This time it was decided not to take any chance keeping in view the safety and security of passengers, they added.

Therefore no train will run on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, they said adding similarly trains will not chug on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.

Trains are becoming the first target of mob during strike and encounter between militants and security forces in the valley.

Railway is suffering a loss of over Rs three lakhs when the train service is suspended in the valley.
