Srinagar: The official twitter-handle of People Democratic Party (PDP) has un-followed the ‘rebel’ leaders after they openly revolted against the top brass of the party, particularly president Mehbooba Mufti.
The move by the PDP is seen as a sign of the widening of the void between the ‘rebel’ leaders and the party leadership. The official twitter handle of twitter has 23,100 followers while it follows 17 people, mostly PDP leaders and some journalists.
However, the official twitter handed of the PDP has reportedly un-followed the ‘rebel’ leaders after the revolt within the party against Ms Mehbooba and her close aids. The PDP twitter handle earlier used to retweet and follow leaders like former minister Imran Raza Ansari and MLC Yasir Reshi, who are active on social media sites. But, the handle has not only stopped retweeting their tweets, but has also un-followed them.
“Yes, the twitter handle of PDP has un-followed these rebel leaders,” a PDP leader told UNI on the condition of anonymity.
He further said that party is considering other actions against these leaders. “The time is not conducive for any action against these leaders. But hopefully the party leadership will act against them soon and will not stop at un-following them on twitter,” he added.
Soon after the BJP pulled out support from the coalition government – following which Ms Mehbooba to resign as the chief minister of the state, PDP MLA from Zadibal, Abid Ansari, openly criticized the part president.
This was followed by Imran Ansari criticizing Ms Mehooba and accusing her of nepotism. Five other legislators also followed the Ansaris and revolted against the PDP leadership.
Ms Mehbooba even warned BJP of serious consequences if it tried to break PDP though the rebel leaders rejected that the saffron party had anything to do with their revolt.
