Advisor (K) visits Samba, reviews developmental scenario

Samba: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar on Saturday visited Samba district to assess the developmental scenario in the district.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma and IGP Jammu zone, Dr SD Singh accompanied the Advisor.

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chauhan, while making a detailed presentation regarding developmental profile of the district informed the meeting that various initiatives have been taken by the district administration to develop key sectors and briefed about the physical and financial achievements registered in the current fiscal till date.

While reviewing the overall development scenario, the Advisor asked the district administration to focus more on strengthening the road connectivity especially border roads. He also took stock of the construction of individual and community bunkers in the border district.

The Advisor called for launching massive plantation in the district on the retrieved encroached land, state and forest land. He asked the DC to develop play grounds in every block of the district. He also directed the Agriculture department to promote organic farming.

While reviewing the health scenario, the Advisor directed for sufficient availability of anti-rabies vaccines and further asked for strengthening the District Rehabilitation Centre strength by equipping it with the modern physiotherapy equipments.

The Advisor asked the District administration to focus on “Khelo India”. He was informed that a total of  10 games namely Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Football, Swimming, Hockey, Badminton, Wrestling, Basketball & Athletics have been identified to be covered in four blocks of Samba District – Samba, Ghagwal, Vijaypur & Purmandal under Khelo India in active collaboration with Army, CRPF and Police. The competitions involving nearly 10000 youths will be organized in two age groups -Junior (15 to 19 yrs) & Senior (19 to 25 yrs) at Block & District Level.

During review of education sector , he  directed for imparting specialized training to teachers in DIET.

The Advisor stressed for being more responsive towards people of the district and to address the people’s grievance properly.

The meeting was attended by SSP Koushal Sharma, ADDC Pankaj Magotra, ADC, CPO, ACR, ACD, GM Industries, CMO, CAO, DYSO, DSWO and other district officers.

Earlier, the DC briefed the Advisor about the achievements in several development projects under various heads including PMGSY, NRDWP, SAUBHAGYA, DDUGJY, PMEG, PMDP, PKVY,PMKSY,  Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (NMSA),Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM), Seema Bhawan, State Marriage Assistance Scheme, construction of Bal Ashram  and many alike.

Under PMAY-G, a total of 181 houses were completed ending July 2018 and construction of 428 houses are in progress. Under Swachh Bharat Mission-G, 98.10% targeted households were covered out of 49940. She informed that the district has a total of 22997 job card holders under MGNREGA. A total of 13538  LPG connections were issued under PMUY.

It was further informed that work for the construction for 1500 bunkers were allotted for the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also put forth various issues to provide better amenities to the people.

Later, several delegations of Samba District including Peoples forum for Human Value, Industrial Association, All People’s Welfare Society, Core Group and various delegations of Political Parties met the Advisor.
