Srinagar: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK stalwart M. Karunanidhi is no more, Kauvery Hospital announced on Tuesday evening.
“With deep anguish, we announce the demise of our beloved Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi at 6.20 p.m.,” a hospital statement said.
“Despite the best possible efforts by a team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond.”
Karunanidhi, 94, was admitted to the hospital on July 28 and his condition worsened on Monday.
Governor N.N. Vohra has expressed grief over the sad demise of M. Karunanidhi, veteran politician and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
In a condolence message Governor has prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family in their hour of grief.
