Kupwara: A complete shutdown was observed amid internet and school suspension in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday against the killing of two militants on Thursday evening.
Two militants, Zahoor Ahmad Mir of Thayan Kalaroos and Bilal Ahmad Shah of Shatmuqam village of Kupwara were killed during a brief shootout with government forces in Shumriyal Lolab area of Kupwara.
Local sources said that all the shops, business establishments’, government and private offices remained closed while traffic also remained off the roads in Trehgam, Kupwara, Lolab and other adjoining areas of the district.
Authorities had suspended internet service in the district while schools also remained closed.
