Srinagar: Internet service of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), was suspended in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar as a precautionary measure.
The BSNL had announced to suspend the high speed Broadband internet service in the valley following strike called by separatists on August 5 and 6 against any move to fiddle with Article 35 A.
However, on Saturday the internet service of all Cellular companies, including Broadband, had been suspended since early this morning.
Media persons, besides students, professionals, including doctors and those working with call centers and health centres were hit most.
Traders, who had protested in the past against suspension of internet service, said their business is worst hit. The fruit growers also agitated against the suspension of the internet service.
However, no reason was given for suspension of the service, but it is said the move was to prevent spread of rumours following killing of five militants in an encounter in south Kashmir district of Shopian since last night.
