Sopore /Aug, 3:`Police on Friday said that two militants were killed in a during a gunfight in Drusoo village of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A statement issued by the by Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said ‘a joint patrol of the government forces during the night intervening Thursday and Friday launched searches in Dursoo village in Dangiwacha Sopore after it received credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. While the searches in the area were going on, aware about militants’ presence, police made efforts to persuade the hiding terrorists to surrender but they were unrelenting and fired on the search party initiating a gunfight. In the ensuing gunfight two militants were eliminated :
The slain militants, police said, were affiliated with LeT militant outfit and their identity is being ascertained.
‘ Two government forces’ personnel were also injured who were subsequently shifted to the nearby hospital for medical treatment. Both are stated to be stable’, reads police statement
Police also claimed recovery of arms & ammunition from the gunfight site and said ‘a case has been registered a case and investigation initiated in the instant matter`.
