Srinagar/Aug, 2 : Two militants were killed on Thursday eliminated in Khumriyal area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Police in a statement issued on Thursday afternoon said that government forces had established a Naka in the area but while checking at the Naka point was going on the militants fired on the Naka party which was retaliated by the forces.
In a brief encounter, two militants were successfully killed .
The slain militants have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah, a resident of Shatmuqam and Zahoor Ahmad. They, police said were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants outfit .
‘Both the militants were involved in several attacks on the security establishments and civilian atrocities in the area’ the the police statement said. Police also claimed recovery ofone AK 47 and one INSAS rifle from the police possession of the slain militants which was snatched from a policeman in Kandhar area of Kupwara Wednesday this week.
‘No collateral damage occurred during the encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation into the matter has been initiated’ reads the statement
