Srinagar: As many as 176 persons were arrested for stone pelting while there were 39 ‘violent incidents’ during which eight security personnel, three civilians and 14 militants were killed since the imposition of Governor rule in the Jammu and Kashmir from June 20, 2018.
This information was given by Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) statement said here this evening.
The reply said that on June 20, 2018, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir N N Vohra, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and, with the concurrence of President of India, issued a proclamation inter alia assuming to himself all the functions of the Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said there were 39 incidents of militant violence after the imposition of central rule from June 20 to July 19, 2018.
He said eight security force personnel were martyred while three civilians were also killed in the violence.
