New Delhi: Is Nasira Iqbal, daughter-in-law of poet Muhammad “Allama” Iqbal, going to be the next president of Pakistan?
There is no official statement on the same, or from soon-to-be ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, but social media is abuzz with such talk. The conversation on Twitter is that Iqbal is being considered for the post of head of state.
Iqbal was one of the first five women judge of the Lahore High Court, who served from 1994 to 2002.

“Justice R Nasira Iqbal for the President. Just the thought of it gives me an unbelievable happiness,”. wrote Rabia Anum Obaid.“What a time to be alive. Imran Khan is prime minister. Justice Nasira, a female president. Love my life right now! Long live Pakistan. #NayaPakistan”, wrote Zaryab Malik.
Allama Iqbal, poet of undivided India, wrote the “Saare Jahaan Se Accha” song that is still hugely popular seven decades after the Partition.
