Ramban: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat Monday chaired a meeting of district level committee for implementation of Khelo India scheme and reviewed the preparedness for execution of the flagship sports scheme .
ADC, Gurvinderjeet Singh, CPO, Uttam Singh, ASP, Sanjay Parihar, AD Planning, Ganesh Kumar, CMO, CEO , Officers of Army, CRPF besides officers of Youth Services and Sports Department attended the meeting .
The DDC called for strict adherence to the guidelines and asked the concerned officer to prepare an effective action plan for implementation of ‘Sports for Peace & Development’, a vertical scheme of Khelo India.
He directed the officers to design career counselling programmes, Football, volleyball night tournaments, Cultural clubs, Mushaira, Kavi Sammelan, Educational Tours besides other events to explore the sports talent among the local youth. He also impressed upon the officers to encourage the students, pass-outs and dropouts to participate in sports of their interest to create a niche at national and international levels.
The DDC said that Ramban has huge potential in sports arena and the need of the hour is to channelise it in a positive direction.
He assured every possible support from the district administration for promoting sports activities in far flung and rural areas.
