BJP as unpredictable as before

Though BJP’s National President Amit Shah has ruled out the possibility of forming a new coalition government with the support of the dissidents of its previous ally PDP but how can people believe what BJP says about its future plans when they have seen BJP pulling out from Mehbooba government barely few days after its National General Secretary Ram Madhav assured Mehbooba Mufti a full six year term as Chief Minister. Interestingly only two days after announcing pull out from the Mehbooba government the BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav held meeting with Peoples’ Conference Chairman and former minister Sajad Gani Lone who is said to be the main contender for the position of Chief Minister. One one hand BJP National President Amit Shah trashes reports about formation of any new government in Jammu & Kashmir and dismisses the allegations of engineering defections in the Peoples’ Democratic Party but on the other hand other top BJP leaders says that their party is not for the continuation of Governor’s rule in the state for a longer period and endorses the reports about their hunt for the support of required numbers in the state assembly for the formation of a new coalition government in the state. People in Jammu & Kashmir confused when they see BJP’s National President Amit Shah ruling out the formation of a new government and BJP’s Sate Secretary (Organization) as saying “We are looking for numbers and then we can form new government in the state. The BJP was not in favour of dissolving the assembly. We want there should be a government and people should be benefited.” Contradictions are bound to create a confusion and more so when people are reminded of the contradictions in BJP over the survival of alliance with PDP before the fall of Mehbooba government.

BJP is only fooling itself. It knows that the possibility of government formation in the state is too remote and still it makes statements which carry no meaning.

Since sincere PDP leader and former Finance Minister Altaf Bukhari has said that without 29 PDP MLAs no government can be formed in Jammu & Kashmir the contradictory statements of BJP leaders compound the confusion which they have already created by their contradictory remarks over the possibility of a new coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir state. Keeping in view the fact that nothing is impossible in politics it can be said that BJP leaders are tending to take alternative routes of reconnection with the PDP leadership and as such formation of a new combination by creating vertical and horizontal splits seems to be the priority of the top BJP leadership The point is that the BJP is only fooling itself. It knows that the possibility of government formation in the state is too remote and still it makes statements which carry no meaning.
