Faesal’s misconduct

Mehbooba’s challenges in election time

Shah Faesal had become a source of inspiration for thousands of youth when he topped civil services examination in the year 2010 but within a short span of eight years after joining the elite Indian Administrative Service (IAS) he has fallen into political traps only to trash the hopes of the millions of Kashmiris who wanted to see him to higher echelons of powers with a commitment to health wounds of millions of Kashmiris. Hurting and humiliating for millions of Kashmir was to see Shah Faesal in whom they saw a ray of hope falling first into the political trap of PDP leader and former minister Nayeem Akhter as he as Director School Education Kashmir worked at the whims and wishes of the minister instead of taking care of the smooth functioning of schools. Interestingly Shah Faesal’s first tweet that plunged him into a controversy was “I am director of shut schools’.

Shah Faesal has to restrain from issuing statements in full public glare or social media which are tantamount to violation of the code of conduct governing civil service till the time he is member of India Administative Service (IAS) and the day he quits IAS and joins formal politics, people in media will cease the right to raise questions on his statements concerning issues related to politics on social media or anywhere else.

Had Shah Faesal not made a controversial tweet and instead splashed messages of goodwill and reconciliation to the students the approach of reconnection with the students angered by the killings of civilians during 6 month’s unrest in the year 2016 could have prompted angered youth themselves might have opened the doors of shut schools in Valley. After he was relieved of his duties Director School Education Kashmir and put in command as Manging Director J&K State Power Development Corporation (J&K SPDC) people in Kashmir expected him to play a key role in the power generation sectors and settlement of some key issues with National Hydro Power Corporation. Good enough for Shah Faesal to undergo a fellowship program at Harvard University but he being a man of intellect in no way was expected to ink the work “rapistan” like an ordinary Indian politician. Though the Government of India raised highly condemnable queries in a notice issued to Dr Shah Faesal through Jammu & Kashmir Government but people of intellect won’t side him for making a tweet who goes against the spirit of intellectual decency and professional neutrality. It may be satisfying for Shah Faesal that political heavyweights like Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have defended him but it seems to me that politician tend to use Faseal as a pawn in tug of war with Modi led BJP at the centre. Now Shah Faesal has plunged into a bigger controversy by jumping into a debate over the election victory of Imran Khan and the tweet he wrote on the role of Indian TV channels is the domain of a politician, a civil society member, a lawyer, a retired public servant but not a serving public servant. Top reliable informed sources have revealed to me about the intents of Faesal to join National Conference and I wish him best of luck in his future endeavours.
