Div Com(K) reviews developmental scenario of Ganderbal, Bandipora

Ganderbal: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Saturday called upon officers to further improve the public delivery system in government offices and ensure corruption-free administration.

The Divisional Commissioner was addressing the officers of twin districts of Ganderbal and Bandipora during separate meetings held at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal to review the pace of progress of various ongoing developmental projects and related issues for the integrated development of both the districts.

Deputy Commissioners of both the districts Dr Piyush Singla and Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary presented a detailed account of various developmental works under different sectors through PowerPoint presentations and pointed out several issues regarding development in both the districts.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed on officers for installation of Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) and ensure cent per cent attendance at duty places. He also directed officers to make regular inspections of subordinate offices/units and submit a report to concerned Deputy Commissioners on fortnight basis.

While reviewing the developmental projects including road connectivity works, the DDCs raised issues of funding for land acquisition and completion of vital projects; for which, the Div Com directed the concerned officers to submit report of all CRF projects which need additional funds for land acquisition, utility shifting and demolition of structures within 3 days to the concerned Deputy Commissioner.

Reviewing the staff dearth in the health sector, the Div Com asked both the Chief Medical Officers to work out the availability of manpower (medical/para-medical) at the local level so that efforts could be taken to engage these unemployed youth on short-term basis.

While reviewing the disaster management Program, the Div Com directed executive engineers of Irrigation and Flood Control Departments (I&FC), of both districts to identify within 3 days the most critical and vulnerable spots on Nallahs which need immediate repairs so that funds could be released accordingly.

Calling for special attention of all the officers towards the creation of durable sports infrastructure and training program for youth engagement in sports at the village level, Baseer Khan asked officers to work in coordination for yielding better results at ground level. He asked Youth Services and Education department to work as the nodal agency for the purpose. He also stressed for engaging private sports clubs in the sports activities.

The Div Com directed for intensifying anti-encroachment drive and evict kahcharie and state land in all towns and villages. He said this land can be used for sports activities at the local level where ever necessary.

The DDC Ganderbal said several vital projects have been completed within a stipulated timeframe. He said Construction work is apace on other major projects including General bus stand and Dak Bungalow Ganderbal.

Dr Singla highlighted various issues confronting the development and sought the cooperation of higher authorities in resolving them at earliest like Wayil Bridge, Pandach-Beehama Road, beautification of Ganderbal town, an alternative road from Gadura to Umarhaer.

The Div Com asked the DDC to submit the report of such projects which need additional funding for their completion.

The DDC Bandipora while briefing the meeting said 44 major projects costing Rs 411.69 crore are near completion these includes 16 road and bridge projects, 15 buildings and 10 water supply schemes.

The DDC also gave the detailed account regarding good governance and responsive administration including public services guarantee act, redressal of grievances, attendance in government offices, surprise inspections of departments, retrieving of kahcharie land and disaster management.

He also raised the issue of face lifting of Bandipora town, development of bus adda, drainage system for Bandipora and Hajin towns. He also pointed out the completion of grid station Patushay and district hospital.

Among others the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, SSPs of both the districts, ACR Bandipora, Chief Planning Officers, all district/sectoral officers of both Districts.
