Handwara: Despite receiving nearly two core rupees as damage compensation, PHE authorties in Handwara have left the all important road in Naugam leading to Bungus valley turn into a water pool, thus causing huge inconvenience to the public. Locals told Kashmir News Service that the drinking water supply pipes laid along the road have damaged to a large extent due to road widening undertaken by BEACON leading to the leakage of water that has flooded the road making it impossible for commuters to walk on the stretch. They said that even vehicles get stuck on the road at times owing to heavy flow of water on the road. When contacted the 99 BEACON- which is undertaking the road wideing work in the area- they made a startling revelation claiming that PHE division Handwara has been paid one core seventy six Lakh rupees as compensation and the said amount was to be spent by PHE for replacing the pipe line. They further told Kashmir News Service that they have served many reminders to PHE Division Handwara requesting them to replace the damaged pipes but alleged that their requests despite paying the entire amount of compensation ,fell on deaf ears. The locals told that PHE authorities have been playing hide and seek resulting in the sufferings of the people in the area. They claimed that they had even approached Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and concern department many times but alleged that no-one was serious to adress their grievances,.
