Advisor (G) hears public grievances for second consecutive day at Jammu

Jammu: Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai Monday directed the government officials to conduct regular field visits to assess the problems being faced by the people on the ground and take immediate steps to resolve these with full dedication.

“You are real interface between the people and government. Effective service delivery and filling of gaps is your responsibility’’ he told officers of key departments here during a public interaction.

He asked them to maintain roster of their field visits and work with dedication to meet the fixed targets.

Various deputations of people from Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Ramban, Rajouri, Doda besides delegations of traders, transporters, serving and retired employees unions, prominent citizens, social activists, political and religious leaders, scores of individuals interacted with the Advisor and informed him about their issues.

The public delegations, including those from Jammu city projected string of issues before the Advisor. They sought repair of roads, augmentation of drinking water, power infrastructure, up-gradation of schools, establishment of ITI, adequate public transport, compensation for acquired land to owners etc.

Responding to the issue of non-functioning of Gastroenterology Department in Super Specialty Hospital, the Advisor issued on the spot direction to seek report from the Principal GMC, Jammu.

A delegation of Hotel and Lodges Association sought measures for development and promotion of tourism destinations to project Jammu and peripheral area as independent tourist destination. The delegation apprised that with the start of direct train to Katra, tourism / trade has been badly hit in Jammu which needs to be revived by taking concrete measures.

The Advisor gave patient hearing to their demands and assured due consideration in a phased manner. He also passed on the spot directions with regard to various grievances flagged by the delegations.

He said the government has tagged public welfare and equitable development as thrust areas and it will continue with its policy of reaching out to the people to mitigate their sufferings.

Meanwhile, the Advisor asked Director, School Education to frame an action plan to improve quality of education in the government schools and organize capacity building programs for teachers on regular intervals.
